thames vallery tango - argentinian tango lessons and events

The popular Tango dance party nights ("Milongas") are held on the first Saturday of every month in Eton, near Windsor. It's a beautiful location. The evenings are suitable for dancers of all levels; beginners or more experienced.

Our next Milonga is on Saturday 2nd August on Eton Bridge.

We will dance Tango into the night in a magical romantic location overlooked by Windsor Castle as the sun sets over the river Thames.

The dance surface is street paving with a camber so please take care in your choice of shoes and adapt your dancing to prevent any risk of injury. There is very limited seating on the bridge.

If the weather is not suitable for dancing outdoors then the Milonga will be held in Baldwin Hall. If in doubt check here for details.

The Milongas on Eton Bridge are organised with support from Windsor & Eton town management. There are plenty of pubs and bars nearby, but please note that the local bylaws prohibit the consumption of alcohol on Eton Bridge.

The following Milonga is on Saturday 6th September in Baldwin hall. Dancing from 7.30pm. £8.00

Music selection

We believe that the choice of music and the quality of the sound system makes all the difference to a Milonga event, so we pay particular attention to this aspect of your enjoyment at the Eton Milongas.

Even the most popular of Tangos from the Golden Age can start to sound monotonous to modern ears if played non-stop all evening. So at our milongas you can expect a rich variety of the very best classic Tango, Milonga and Vals, interspersed from time to time with tried and tested modern Tango tracks. We add the occasional Jive or Salsa to complete the mix.

We use Tandas and Cortinas to change the mood – but not slavishly every 3 or 4 numbers – constantly adjusting the selection to what’s happening on the dance floor. All of this is managed by a committed DJ using state of the art equipment.

In this way we hope that whether you’re a die-hard Tanguero or a relative newcomer, from our own community or a visitor from further afield, you will be enchanted by the music in an unforgettable and enjoyable evening.
